WD releases a two-HDD hardware level RAID external storage device ‘My Book Duo’ with USB 3.0 with 4TB, 6TB and 8TB storage variants. As per what the press release says, this will enable the transfer speeds of up to 290MB/s.
WD also points out that this is optimized for small RAID setups. The choice of drives are from WD Red series. These drives are RAID 0, but you can switch to RAID 1 and JBOD configuration.
Also, WD is bundling its WD Smartware Pro backup software and Acronis True image. There’s also a Dropbox Cloud integration and its backed with 2 years warranty period.
The advertised features are as follows:

Though the drive comes with a two-year warranty, its a worldwide warranty support. WD India mentioned that the MSRP for the 4TB is Rs. 20,000/-, 25,000 for 6TB and 31,000 for the 8TB variant. Though this does come with x2 USB 3.0 ports, it is bundled with a power adapter as one would expect that this drive will require more power. There’s also a USB hub on the device which allows you to connect mobile phones, tablets and other devices for both charging and data transfer purposes.
WD said that this drive will be available in India by August 2014.
